Dawn Blackmore

Founder

Dawn Blackmore is a professional chef living in Surrey, having gained a Gold Culinary Arts Diploma from the prestigious WhitePepper Chef Academy in Dorset. Dawn has also worked at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital as a senior healthcare assistant, caring for many patients undergoing life-changing surgery. Her passion to help others, combined with her culinary knowledge, has led her to launch The Good Bowel Company. Her first journal, The Ostomate Journal, is dedicated to all the patients — and fellow healthcare providers — who have left a mark on her over the years.

Sophie Smith

Illustrator

Sophie Smith is a freelance illustrator living in Devon, after a period in Southampton for university. Usually working from her kitchen table, listening to her favourite playlist, and never far from her two labradors, Sophie’s work explores highly decorative processes with a vast array of three and two-dimensional canvases and objects. From sculpting to painting, textile art to typography, she loves to hide special details in her art and draws from personal experience to produce work that unites people through wider shared experiences and nostalgia.

Emma Blackmore

Editor

Emma Blackmore is a journalist and commissioning editor with a sharp visual eye and a particular flair for interview profiles. Experienced in delivering multi-media campaigns in fast-paced environments, her work spans travel, lifestyle, luxury, photography and social justice. She has written for a range of magazines, from British Airways’ High Life and Unfold by Mandarin Oriental, to Nikon magazine, The Big Issue, and The Bristol Cable. She is the editor of Dorchester Legends. When she’s not behind her laptop, you’ll find her becoming overfamiliar with London’s best cocktail bars or kayaking the Thames (though, thankfully, not at the same time).
